Q4 2023 and beginning to look back at the last 12 months

How is it the final quarter of 2023 already??

I feel like we were only just in January and coming back to life after the Christmas season (yes I said Christmas, I cannot wait for the festive season to be here, my life revolves around it mentally!).

This year has been about simplifying in so many many ways from my planning system to my wardrobe to my friendships and friend circles and to what I truly care about.

It’s at this time of the year that I start to feel a little overwhelmed at the mountain of things coming up from birthdays to Halloween and thanksgiving and black Friday and finally Christmas. It’s easy to let the overwhelm snowball into a huge stress and it’s why I take the time to do something that that helps me reset.

I write a list of things I am looking forward to.

It’s literally what it sounds like, I get an A4 or A5 piece of paper and I write down all of the things I’m looking forward to over the next two to three months. Often I will take a new page in my journal and write out an exhaustive list of ALL the things I am looking forward to. I like to do this quarterly so that I can see the changes in the season. I find this helps me to shift out of feeling sad and into feeling hopeful in a smooth natural way without forcing myself to feel different.

Here is my current one as of October 2023:

  • Annual leave every Friday in October and a couple in November

  • My younger brother’s birthday in October

  • My older brother’s wedding anniversary and his wife’s birthday in October

  • Halloween fun with friends

  • Black Friday sales for things I want to actually buy (wish list here I come!)

  • The office Christmas part and lunches

  • Christmas week – Christmas day, boxing day and new year’s celebrations

  • Watching the new year fireworks on TV with family

  • Spending time with my niece and nephew – it will be my nephew’s first Christmas and I am here for all the cuddles!

  • Launching my mindset reset workbook on the blog to new subscribers

  • Getting back into having a go at making YouTube videos

  • Vlogtober and Vlogmas (daily YouTube videos in October and December from my favourite YouTube channels)

  • Writing a list of New Year’s resolutions/Big picture goals and creating a new vison board.
